An Opportunity for Feedback on Theme

This blog theme is about God’s gifts and call being irrevocable. Tuesday’s post wasn’t specifically about one gift. So, today, I’d like to offer you an opportunity for feedback via the blog comments feature.

feedback

What feedback will they give?

Please tell me something about these things:

  • What is a gift/talent/interest that God has given you, that you use for necessity’s sake, making your living in the world? (Like Paul and his tents.)
  • What different gift/talent/interest from God, not necessarily related to activities within your church congregation, brings you joyful fulfillment?
  • Have there been times when the previous answers were useful within the community of your church congregation?

I’ve tried, over the past months, to write soundly here about some fairly heavy theological ideas. If those posts have been in any way helpful to you, please do say so. I’m still planning to go through the gifts I listed in the blog post from Tuesday this week, as well as a very few more. After that, a look at God’s call, and finally, the idea of irrevocability. What other topics would you be interested in reading? If I’m to continue blogging three times each week, I truly do need to know.

I admit that I still feel my calling as a writer is to write fiction, not non-fiction projects. I’m serializing some previously written short stories as posts that I put up on Fridays.

If you choose to leave me any comments, I will contact you and ask your permission to use your answers to continue developing this blog theme after the list I have prepared and am using, is finished.

I’m grateful for everyone who reads this blog on social media. However, if you fear missing out, fill in the blanks on the Subscribe form in the upper right sidebar. Posts will automatically appear in your email.

Discernment is the most prominent gift the Holy Spirit has given me. As much good as I’ve seen Him use as a result, there are times it’s a most uncomfortable gift. Times when I’d rather not have ‘discerned’ something, especially when it calls for a most difficult confrontation.
This gift has been useful within the body of believers I am associated with.
Mentoring writers is something i have hugely enjoyed doing… though, I wasn’t gifted teaching. No, I haven’t found this type of mentoring useful within my community of believers outside those Christian writers I work with through ACFW.

I, too, believe that God equips us to accomplish what is both necessary and desirable, often with different gifts at different times for different purposes. There was a time, before my retirement, that I owned a business. At that point in my life I believe God gave me the gift of administration as well as the gift of creativity that I have had my whole life. Both were necessary to continue my business.
Around the same period in church life, the gift of administration was also evident. Chairing committees and being a council member were positions that required that skill. Being creative helped, too. The mission emphasis committee held progressive dinners in the church building with decor and foods highlighting different places where our missionaries were located. It was a lot of work, but very successful. Another way to use my creativity. At a different point in church life I felt called to teach the children and enjoyed that very much. Another gift from God? I lite to think so! I was blessed as much as they were. Maybe more!
Today, I would say that I still have the gifts of creativity and teaching. I so enjoy passing on the skills I have learned: sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, cardmaking… I want the younger generation to know how, but more than that, to enjoy making, designing, and creating their own original works of art! Thankfully, I am retired and have the means, the space and the time to enjoy myself immensely while creating my “masterpieces” to gift to others!
I strive each day to accomplish something. My prayer each day is that God will use me to benefit those I meet, know and love.

Heidi, my publishing skills–using my gift of language are helping to pay my bills, but my artistic gift is the one I enjoy using the most. I use it some to pay bills too, but would love to use it even more in that direction.
In the body of Christ is a little trickier, as I am mostly housebound and unable to attend church for reasons of health. I would love to be part of a church body– I am trying to use social media to witness and encourage, as well as in other spiritual ways.
I am going to keep trying with that

I understand. I’ve always felt myself to be on some outer perimeter of a congregation. I’ve had more than one experience with having my talents rebuffed. It hurts.
