The Holy Spirit Gives Timely Gifts
I choose to be thankful that when necessary, the Holy Spirit will provide my leaders with the gift of distinguishing between spirits. Of course, all the gifts are given for timely use. That time is now. Every gift is intended to bring us closer to sanctification.
The Holy Spirit gives gifts.
The gifts of relationship, self-control, and patience appear disused and devalued lately. Sadly, when believers allow these conditions to happen, opportunities open for sinful personality clashes, arguments, and grumbling. None of this reflects well on Christ’s church.
Therefore the Holy Spirit gives timely gifts like distinguishing between spirits, which arrives with uncomfortable discipline. If and when this holy discipline takes effect in our soul, sanctification alters us into people fit to have relationship with our Savior and one another. Then we make amazing impact on this world.
Faith, instead of holding a stabilizing focus on God’s kept promises and his promised reward of a future with him, fastens itself on mere human beings. Most of them offer faulty solutions at best, while even fewer of them have their followers’ best interests in mind.
Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit gives timely gifts of encouragement, happiness, wisdom, and truth. They bring hope of lasting victory to believers who await Christ’s return. Then, they will live in righteous relationship to the Son and one another. There will be love, joy, peace, forgiveness mercy, kindness, faithfulness and happiness.
There will be no more need of distinguishing between spirits, or the formerly essential corrective discipline. The Prince of Peace will rule.
