Enjoyment is a Gift for Sanctification
Enjoyment is a Gift For Sanctification. At first glance, this might not seem to fit the ongoing topic at all, but it’s true. Enjoyment is a gift from God.
Why would God give us enjoyment?

Remember, the purpose of sanctification in God’s plan is to make our character more like Jesus’ character. In Genesis we even get a glimpse of God’s opinion: God saw all that he had made, and it was very good indeed. (Genesis 1:31a CSB)
Throughout his life on earth, Jesus frequently celebrated—not only all the prescribed Jewish feasts, ordained by his Father, but also weddings, and other gatherings. He also used wedding celebrations and banquets as settings for his parables.
It’s therefore obvious that God wants us to feel, express, and celebrate joy.

But how is enjoyment a gift for sanctification?
If we allow our feelings of enjoyment to become strictly self-focused, self-centered, that’s when satan twists God-honoring enjoyment into undisciplined craving.
Enjoyment has an effect on our sanctification when it is linked to thanksgiving. Enjoyment combined with thanksgiving means we remain aware of the ultimate source for the situation or experience we’re enjoying. Which usually, rightfully, isn’t ourselves, but our generous Creator.
