Blog Post on Thanksgiving Day

Blog Post on Thanksgiving Day
Did you expect a blog post on Thanksgiving Day?
Are you expecting this post topic to be on Thanksgiving Day? Well, it’s not. However, it’s Thursday, and I committed to blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Why it wasn’t instantly obvious to me when I began researching this blog themed around the verse God’s gifts and call are irrevocable that I’d be writing twice a week on some pretty densely theological topics, I don’t know.
You’ll probably be glad, if you’ve stuck with me this far, that the list of gifts is about to get much more simple and practical. But, I think it’s only fair to you for me to ask a few questions.

Who’s got questions?

So far, we’ve covered eight gifts from God: relationship, salvation, righteousness, justification, sanctification, discernment, truth, and wisdom.

What’s most helpful?

Do any of you think I should revisit any of these topics later on either because you think there’s more to be said, or because you wish I’d come up with different analogies, to make the subjects more easily understood?
If so, please come to the blog and leave comments so that I can prepare.
Are you wondering whether Heidi’s calling is shifting from writing stories to becoming a theological blogger? I don’t believe it is.
Do I expect you to take time out from your celebrations to answer these questions about this blog post on Thanksgiving Day? No, but when you do find this post in your news feed, or see the email in your inbox, please do consider responding then.
When I take a look at the upcoming topics on my research list, I think the next group of three will contain Good Works, Responsibility, and Enjoyment. I intend to keep moving along my list and only revisit the first eight topics, if you wish it, after that.

Heidi, I think THANKS on Thanksgiving Day is a good topic. Giving thanks with a grateful heart to the Holy One for all He has done for us is the order of the day! The meaning of the day, really. It’s not about turkey, or family or football; it’s about thankfulness to God for His blessings. His gifts. His Gift.
Thank you for pointing this out so well for us!

Today I’m remembering a round I learned to sing in school: Oh give thanks, Oh give thanks, Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for he is gracious and his mercy endureth, endureth forever. I don’t know if it still gets taught.

Heidi; I think Thanksgiving Day serves as a reminder that we should give Thanks every day. Giving thanks creates contentment and helps us acknowledge all we have is a gift from God. It takes our focus off of what we feel we are entitled to and therefore may grumble and complain about and puts our focus on what is true and edifying. God is Good and Every Good and Perfect Gift comes down from Him
    Thank you for this blog!
