I Give Thanks for God’s Promised Divine Wisdom

I give thanks for God’s promised divine wisdom. It’s such a blessing that God doesn’t abandon his people to living with merely human intelligence or cunning. Instead, he’s generously loaning us clarity of mind, calm, and insight beyond the comprehension of those who deny his existence.

How does God’s promised divine wisdom help?

Within our current human limitations, we get to view the world with something like His perspective. That will only increase in the next life after the new creation. For now, it certainly diminishes the impulse to panic.

I give thanks for God’s promised divine wisdom because it prompts me to holy sorrow and interceding prayer for people and situations where His wisdom has been refused. I couldn’t personally shift their attitudes or circumstances. The people involved could, and did, scoff at what I felt for them, saying I had no business being sad for them. However, God can work effectively despite that.

At other times in my life, God’s promised wisdom counseled me to remain quiet, when the words I otherwise would have spoken had the potential to fan even greater conflict. Shortly after that, I believe that same promised wisdom gave me a pertinent question for myself, and other distressed and agitated people. It’s seven simple words that short-circuit panicky or critical thoughts: “What did you thank God for, today?”

Once, I whispered that question in a woman’s ear. Her eyes got wide, and I smiled and left her. The next time we met, she was smiling, her eyes twinkled, and the words she said were lively and positive. That change persisted.

Whether you have read this blog on social media or via your email, I’d deeply appreciate if you’d leave a comment on the blog about some way that wisdom from God helped you. After all, sharing those events is one way we can live our lives to the praise of his glory.

Amen!! My husband and I needed His wisdom in raising our three sons. There is no way they would have become the good guys they are with just human intelligence. It was a God thing!!

I was dating the wrong guy for two years. I loved him deeply and we shared many joyful times. But God in His wisdom pricked my conscious mind. This guy’s faith was half-hearted at best. It bothered me that he could take his eternal destiny so lightl and laugh at my serious thoughts. I’m sure it was the Holy Spirit that caused me to end our relationship. That was a very difficult decision. I cried real tears. But I’m glad I listened to that inner voice. After some time I married the man God had intended for me. We will celebrate 60 years together soon. I am so thankful and so blessed!

The Holy Spirit has been speaking to me about making a point to give thanks, and your post is one more confirmation. Thank you, Heidi!
