Focus on Hope and Live Thankfully

Focus on hope and live thankfully. They’re relatively simple words, but they can be a challenge during any swirl of dismaying events. Let’s go through them one at a time.
Focus. For today, we’ll single out these phrases from Webster’s definitions: a state or condition permitting clear perception or understanding, and directed attention.
On. Webster calls the preposition on a function word, used to indicate a position or a source of support or dependence, as well as the subject of study, discussion or consideration. As an adjective, on means to be aware of something.
Hope. This is expecting something with confidence, and trust. As a noun, hope is both someone or something on which hopes are centered, and the thing hoped for.
Live. To be alive, to continue alive, to attain eternal life.
Thankfully. Expressing gratitude, pleasure, or satisfaction while aware of a received benefit.

Focus on hope and live thankfully.

Since I posted on Tuesday, the current virus crisis continues to prove the wisest mindset to face what we’re learning, directs our attention to the living God who is the giver of gifts. We are dependent, and He supports us. The more we study Him, we perceive His overflowing generosity, and his word reassures that our giver of hope knows us.
Hope is not the last of God’s gifts. He has unbreakable plans to bestow a future, victory, and eternal life.
David’s Psalms offer powerful examples of how to focus on hope and live thankfully.
“But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure. I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone. Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”

Hope is a blessing to those who trust in the Lord. Those who don’t understand or know the Lord are often without hope. So this is why we need to spread the Good News: Our hope is in the Lord Who made heaven and earth!
I shall yet praise Him! He is my help and shield. I thank Him for my privilege to know Him!
