Sometimes the Wednesday window is a glimpse into the past. Today the sun shines, and the Wednesday sky is as blue as this Blue Morpho butterfly’s wings were. Somehow my camera captured this photo, and I don’t remember taking it.
Of all the butterflies consistently released during the annual exhibit at Meijer Gardens, photos of quick-flying Blue Morphos are hardest to get. Ordinarily when resting, a Blue Morpho keeps its wings closed, and the undersides are brown, marked by rings and mottles as you can see in this shot, grainy and over exposed, that I do remember taking. Dated seven years earlier, it’s a Blue Morpho in flight, and was the last picture I took at Meijer Gardens that day in March before my camera batteries died.
